Chemistry, Physics and Science

Alicia's biography:

With a technical background, Alicia has had the opportunity to work in energy consultancy, energy policy, as well as in education. Having tutored, volunteered at a Saturday supplementary school, and taught Physics full time, Alicia has always had a love of teaching. Both her parents are teachers, so it is something that comes very naturally. This was always alongside, or complementary to, her career in engineering. She believes teachers with their own industry and life experience have the most to offer their students. Alicia has also been a STEM Ambassador and in her last school she was STEM Coordinator - part of her role was to mentor students applying to study STEM subjects at Oxford and Cambridge. She feels especially strongly about encouraging more girls into the field.

Always encouraging her students to challenge themselves and chase their goals, it is Alicia's belief that teachers should practice what they preach. Therefore, she is currently pursuing a PhD in her field in order to further her knowledge and open doors to teaching at university. This is following a BEng in Engineering from Imperial College and an MPhil in Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

Alicia's qualifications:

Alicia qualified to teach Physics in 2015, and holds a PGCE Secondary Physics from University College London - Institute of Education.

We collect references for all of our tutors when they join. Not all referees agree to have their reference publically listed, but when they do we show them here.

Alicia is very bright and has a lot of experience teaching. She is very punctual, reliable, and I think most importantly is very reassuring/motivating. I am a PhD candidate and out of the hundreds of people I know, I would recommend her the most. I strongly recommend requesting her as your tutor whilst she is available.
