Kat has been teaching Secondary School Mathematics for 9 years as a qualified teacher. Prior to gaining her teaching qualification she achieved a First in Mathematics at Portsmouth University. She is now taking a break from in classroom teaching to enjoy family life and pursue helping a wider range of students with their mathematics through online tutoring. She has much experience of working with students in large groups and as individuals, pushing them forward to achieve highly in their exams throughout school life. She specialises in KS3 and GCSE Mathematics Examination support but also has experience of teaching A level Maths and tutoring KS2 students in her home.
Example of past tutoring experience.
For a year Kat taught a year 5 student who felt like she was weak at Maths but generally just lacked confidence. Throughout our sessions her Maths ability and confidence in general significantly improved. 18 months later she was transferred to the school Kat taught at and was put straight into the Top set class for Mathematics.
Kat has supported many students through their Mathematics GCSE studies.
With each student she tries to get the right balance between the learning of content, using effective revision techniques and doing examination prep throughout the time she works with them. Tutoring sessions with Kat will include a mix of review & recall, problem solving and fluency practice activities. She will aim to include extension work that pushes the students to beyond what the first believe they can achieve. All while aiming to encourage a love for the Mathematics.
