James has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:
3 to Eton College 2 to St Paul's 1 to Westminster 1 to Le Rosey 2 to Marlborough College 1 to Stowe 2 to Harrow
James received a 1st class degree in English from the University of Liverpool. Subsequently, he cycled 15,000 miles around the world, raising £10,000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in the process. His first step into teaching was as a tutor fellow in an outstanding school, where he learnt the art of facilitating progress on a 1:1 level. After this, he completed the rigorous Teach First programme (with distinction) as an English teacher in a challenging secondary school (11 - 18 years old) in London over the course of two years.
Since then, James has tutored all around the world. For the past three years, he has focused on helping students achieve their potential in the 11+ exams (Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning & Non-Verbal Reasoning), 13+, English up to A-Level, whilst also helping students with Maths, History, Geography, RS and revision skills for GCSE. He has a depth of experience with students who struggle to independently learn effectively at school, or who lack motivation and loves the mentoring side of the role. In addition, from his time as a tutor fellow, he has experience working with students with SEN, or who speak English as an additional language. Equally, he has helped students achieve the top levels, from getting into Eton & St. Paul's, achieving a level 9 at GCSE or an A* at A-Level. James has previously served as an examiner for AQA.
Currently, he lives in London and works full time as a private tutor; occasionally on the side, he will lead adventure expeditions for teenagers with organisations like World Challenge and British Exploring.
James qualified to teach English in 2017, and holds a PGCE from University of London (Institute of Education).

James is a colleague at the school where I work and fellow Teach First Participant. He is an outstanding English teacher who's planning and teaching is often heralded as being some of the best in the school. His rigour and attention to detail, as well as the relationship he develops with his pupils make him an outstanding educator.
