Tutor profile - Annie

Annie has always been a passionate believer in education and lifelong learning. She excelled at St Paul's Girls' School achieving straight A*s at GCSE and all As at A-Level. She then went on to obtain an BA Hons in History (First Class) from The University of Oxford, specialising in the history of the British Empire with particular reference to India. Her passion for education encouraged her to apply and qualify as a Maths teacher through the prestigious Teach First scheme. When observed in the classroom her teaching has been rated as being at the highest level by Ofsted. Her particular specialism was in differentiation and developing tasks personalised to her students’ levels of ability and interests.

She has experience teaching students from Year 7 to Sixth form of different abilities. Additionally, she has worked as numeracy lead, organising trips for younger students and run additional classes for gifted students. Annie’s strength in teaching more advanced Mathematics lies in her background. As someone who has not studied Maths at university but excelled at the subject at school, she is able to communicate complex ideas in a far simpler way to her students. She understands what exactly they need to know and does not overcomplicate her teaching. In this way, she is most effective teaching those attempting IB who struggle with the course. In her spare time, she enjoys reading widely, attending talks and lectures in London as well as training for her second triathlon which she will complete in June.
