Amy has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:
Amy wrote the English entrance examination for 7+ entry to Highgate Junior School, as well as leading the moderation session and delivering the English lesson at interview for shortlisted candidates.
Amy is a qualified primary teacher with over seven years' experience across the state and private sectors. After graduating from the University of Cambridge with a BA in Classics - and a brief stint working in Film (children are always very excited to learn she worked at the final two Harry Potter premieres) - she completed her Primary PGCE at the Institute of Education. She trained at an outstanding primary school in Newham (awarded 'Top State Primary School' in the country by The Sunday Times in 2017) through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme and later went on to teach at Highgate Junior School in north London.
Amy has extensive experience teaching across both Key Stages 1 and 2, supporting students of all abilities and backgrounds to progress. She is also passionate about children's mental health and well-being, and has a Certificate in Counselling Skills with Children Using the Arts from IATE (The Institute for Arts and Therapy in Education). She is adept at using a range of empathetic strategies to support students who experience stress or anxiety, which will be particularly relevant for some children during this unprecedented period.
Online tuition is fast proving itself to be a highly effective, motivating and flexible approach that is both convenient for parents and empowering for students. Amy uses an interactive whiteboard to deliver creative lessons that enables the student to be active and engaged at all times. All lessons are tailored to individual targets with regular feedback given to help students work towards their full potential. Above all, Amy strives to build confidence and enthusiasm for learning within a nurturing, supportive environment to equip students with a growth mindset for their future success.
Amy qualified to teach Primary education in 2013, and holds a PGCE Primary Education from Institute of Education .

"Amy is excellent. She somehow has inspired my son in just a couple of sessions and he feels confident and likes writing stories. I wished I had found her earlier."
