Originally from Ireland, Joe studied at The University of Liverpool. A passion for working with young people led him to the classroom through a highly competitive graduate teaching programme. He spent two years as a Primary teacher in teaching across Years 1-3 in a London school. Joe received his PGCE from the Institute of Education and was commended for his work in co-leading a Maths "Gifted and Talented club". Joe is now working for the College of Teaching, looking at research into the most effective way to teach.
Due to his previous experience both in the classroom and as a tutor, Joe is well aware of the requirements to get pupils to Level 3 in Numeracy and Literacy. Through teaching he has great expertise in preparing pupils for end of Year 2 SATs exams, placing him in an ideal position to tutor for Seven and Eight Plus exams. Joe is an extremely friendly and nurturing tutor, always placing the child's needs and interests first. In Joe's spare time, he enjoys cycling and reading.
Joe qualified to teach Primary education in 2011, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Institute of Education, UCL.

"Joe has been absolutely brilliant with my son! He helped assess my son for the 7+ process and was tremendously helpful and supportive in guiding us towards where to focus our efforts as we prepared for the assessments. We identified key areas to work on, and Joe came regularly to ensure we were on the right track, always taking the time to prepare ahead of time and also give very useful feedback. Not only is he an outstanding teacher, he is absolutely superb around children and makes the sessions enjoyable for them. I cannot recommend Joe highly enough. It is with his guidance that we have been able to enter this process feeling well prepared, and we have secured a place in the school of our choice!"

Mother in Clapham
Joe, like all of our tutors, is a qualified teacher and has been interviewed by us personally. All of our tutors have at least two years of classroom teaching experience and come with fantastic references and criminal records checks.
