Karen's biography:

Karen graduated from Leeds University with a BA in Sociology in 2008; achieving a 1st class honours degree. Since then she has also obtained her PGCE with Distinction from Canterbury Christ Church University. Karen left the classroom in July to pursue a career for an education charity recruiting teachers. Whilst in the classroom she was identified as an ‘outstanding’ practitioner leading on two extra-curricular clubs – Duke of Edinburgh and Citizenship GCSE. She is now studying towards her MA at the IOE in Leadership.

In particular Karen enjoyed mentoring 6th form students with their applications to university and still supports a number of her students. She enjoys raising the aspirations of her pupils and widening their access to career and high education opportunities.

As a dedicated and conscientious teacher, Karen would design learning activities that met and challenged her tutees needs. Her repertoire of teaching and learning experience would enable her to make the learning appropriate, engaging and accessible. In her spare time Karen’s favourite hobbies are running, sailing and hot yoga!

Karen qualified to teach Other in 2011, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Canterbury Christchurch University College.
