Nick has been involved in education all his working career and first started teaching and tutoring in 1983. He started as a teacher of Physics and was quickly promoted to Head of Physics, Head of Science, Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and finally Headteacher. As a Headteacher of a large secondary school he was responsible for students aged between 11 and 19. Nick currently works full time as an online tutor and writer of A level/IB Physics and Mathematics resources. Nick is also an examiner for Mathematics, Physics and IB Physics.
Nick has been teaching students Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry for over 30 years. He has a wealth of experience getting the best from his students at all levels. He has taught Science at Key Stage 3; Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at GCSE level; and Physics, Mathematics (Pure and Mechanics) and Further Mathematics (Pure and Mechanics) at A level. He has also taught undergraduate Mathematics and Physics at Honours level to engineering, mathematics and physics students. In addition to his teaching classes, Nick has tutored over 200 students in Physics and Mathematics at GCSE, A level and undergraduate level. Every student has passed their examinations if they have been tutored for a full academic year with most students obtaining the top grade.
Nick is passionate about education and very approachable. He is fair and aware of the differing abilities of students. He believes that every student should be given the opportunity and encouragement to achieve their best possible potential. Nick explains difficult concepts clearly and believes there are many different techniques to help students who find specific topics hard. He tutors using many methods and always allows students to understand the many types of questions. He believes the most important person is the student and will help students understand topics by making them work through questions and problems.
When he isn't teaching or tutoring, Nick loves astronomy, bird watching and watching rugby.
Nick qualified to teach Science in 2004, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from University of Wales.

Nick is a qualified IB tutor and examiner. Nick has successfully tutored a number of IB students.
"This was a difficult task as I wanted my daughter put through her paces for the 16+ to a school which does not have any past papers. Nick's wealth of experience in preparation for similar maths entry exams was excellent and she feels far more confident about the impending entry exam. The Skype sessions were very time efficient and it was great that Annie could print out the notes afterwards so that she can look over them again before exam day."

Physics can be a particularly difficult subject to master. To get that top grade, organisation and reading around the topic are key. Most importantly, never be afraid to ask for help - the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask!
