Anne has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:
Through her class teaching Anne has supported children in gaining places for entry at 7+ at independent schools in north London, including Highgate. UCS, City of London Girls, Westminster, Colet Court, King’s School Wimbledon and St Christopher’s.
Anne is able to guide parents who may be unfamiliar with the north London independent school options. She understands the differences in entry-level requirements and, once she has an understanding of a child’s realistic capability, will tailor her programme to enable a child to fulfil their potential.
Anne has 15 years teaching experience, in both the state and independent sectors. She was Head of Year 2 at North Bridge House Pre-Prep School in Hampstead for five years, before moving back into the state education system, where she has been for the past two years.
Anne teaches at Key Stage 1 and lower Key Stage 2, as she enjoys nurturing children’s rapid acquirement of reading, writing and numeracy skills and promoting their curiosity in the world around us. Anne has a wealth of experience to support parents and children, to enable them to navigate the options at 7+ and 8+. She has successfully tutored children for entry to independent schools in north and south London.
Anne modifies her lessons to suit the level and different learning styles of children. Every lesson is pre-planned and individually tailored to the needs of each child, based on Anne's wealth of experience and access to resources. She uses a combination of fun, informal games and activities and more formal recording, including focusing on handwriting and presentation. Anne makes learning fun and stimulating. She engages children with her warm and caring manner, allowing them to gain confidence in their ability as independent learners.
Anne has a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and obtained her Postgraduate degree in Primary Teaching.
When not working Anne enjoys cooking for her family and friends, going for long walks, book club and playing the piano. Anne has also challenged herself to take up running and is aiming to run non-stop for 30 minutes.
Anne qualified to teach Primary education in 2003, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from University of Hertfordshire.

"Anne is one in a million! She is very experienced, kind and focused and an excellent teacher. She quickly picked up on which areas my kids needed to work on. She worked with my twins together and my daughter individually and helped all 3 of them obtain places for entry into a top private school at 7+ and 8+. She was happy to work with me to achieve a lot in a short period of time and I could provide suggestions of areas needing more work. She also provided me with reading lists.
Even after the children had been offered places, I kept the tutoring going with Anne as my kids loved the sessions and I could see they were getting a lot out of them. I would highly recommend!"

Mother in North West London
"Anne engaged with the children (6 and 8) through regular Saturday morning sessions every week. They both really looked forward to the sessions and were sad when they came to an end. Both children got into the schools of their choice (one with a choice of Westminster Under or a scholarship to Newton Prep). We very much enjoyed our time working with Anne."

Anne, like all of our tutors, is a qualified teacher and has been interviewed by us personally. All of our tutors have at least two years of classroom teaching experience and come with fantastic references and criminal records checks.
