Chloë’s love for language began ordering croissants and baguettes at the local boulangerie whilst holidaying in France as a child. This eventually led to her studying for a BA Dual Honours in French and Spanish at the University of Sheffield. Gaining a certificate to teach English as a Foreign Language whilst still an undergraduate, her student summers were put to good use teaching her native language to children and teenagers from all over the world. After graduating Chloë combined her love of travel with her work and spent some time in Spain, Japan and Ecuador teaching English. She returned to the UK to become a qualified French and Spanish teacher and now has more than twelve years’ experience teaching both languages in a range of independent and state schools. Her experience includes being Head of Spanish in a large secondary school in Hampshire, Head of French in a British School in the Canary Islands and Languages coordinator in an independent preparatory school. She has taught French and Spanish from the foundation stage up to A’ Level and has extensive experience of preparing students for formal examinations, including Common Entrance, GCSE, IGCSE, and A-Level.
Chloë began offering private tuition in 2011 and since then has supported many students in their language learning journeys, whether to help them gain confidence in speaking or to practice specific skills in exam technique. Her approach is friendly and calm, with the right amount of emphasis on setting appropriate targets to be able to achieve the desired results, without stifling the enjoyment of learning. Having left full-time teaching to have a family, Chloë now teaches online for a reputable Internet School, is a distance-learning tutor for students of IGCSE and A’ Level languages, and is an examiner for the AQA and Edexcel examination boards.
In her free time, she loves to travel and spend time outdoors, in particular walking and cycling with her family and black Labrador ‘Yamba.’
Chloe qualified to teach French in 2002, and holds a Graduate Teacher Programme Certificate in Education (GTP_ from Dorset Local Education Authority.
