Rubena gained a first class honours degree in Early childhood Studies and later went on to achieve an 'outstanding' Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the UCL Institute of Education. She now has over 7 years experience teaching at an outstanding school in East London and over 5 years tutoring experience.
Within her role in her school, she now mentors newly qualified teachers and supports newer teachers with planning and delivering teaching so that lessons are creative, engaging and have set high expectations of all. Planning across four schools in her school's federation has provided Rubena with the opportunity to further develop her ability to plan lessons so that all children are challenged and engaged. Working in a multicultural and diverse setting, means that EAL learners and children with special needs are priories. She has experience of working with children with different specials needs such as ASD, ADHD and speech and Language. Rubena strongly believes that patience, understanding and talk is integral to developing language skills which is why she always includes opportunities for dialogue, questioning and individualised teacher feedback.
Rubena is passionate about building relationships and empowering pupils. She has led and driven pupil leadership and pupil voice across her school which has led the school to achieve the highest award as a Rights Respecting school; 'Gold'.
