Emily has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:
Over the last five years, I have assisted in over thirty students pass and gain entry into their chosen school including Henrietta Barnett, Merchant Taylors, Tiffin, Dulwich, Eton, Harrow, Bolton, Queens - to name a few! I also am verbally on good terms with a large number of the schools including understanding their ethos and methodology. I can provide help and support to parents in this sense in terms of choosing a school - or finding one as the case sometimes is. As well as hunt out the answers to any questions you may have.
Emily is a full-time educator with over six years of experience. She is an English Literature graduate (BA) of the University of Aberystwyth where she especially enjoyed papers in Anglo-Saxon, Medieval, female empowerment and Viking Sagas. Following on from University she gained ger PGCE with the University of Chester via the School Direct programme, beating 200 other applicants for one of the 20 places available where Emily was exposed to the latest in education theory and pedagogical techniques during the revamp of the National Curriculum. She then completed the prestigious MRes and PhD with Swansea University in the highly acclaimed Medieval Literature department only accepts proposals from two students every three years.
Emily qualified to teach English in 2014, and holds a PGCE from Chester University.

I have a vast amount of IB experience both in the classroom and in private tuition.
"Emily has been tutor to our two primary school-aged children for almost 3 months now, as they sit entrance exams for prep school.
We selected Emily after setting up trial lessons with several tutors, and found her to be the most naturally engaging as an educator and communicator, both with her pupils and with us as parents.
Our children see Emily weekly and describe her as very warm and friendly. They enjoy her lessons as she keeps their attention by mixing things up and using different approaches.
In terms of entrance exams, Emily is not only covering the written paper elements including sample papers and homework at stages, to assess their progress, but she also provides interview practice. Our daughter had a very good mock interview recently, the evening before her actual first one, and it was particularly useful since with COVID, the real interview was also via video. Emily covers all aspects of the interview including body language and behaviour as well as content. This was incredibly useful.
As a parent of young children, Emily- both as a teacher and as a parent herself- has provided invaluable tips regarding the approach to learning. She explains things very well, is extremely patient but also knows when to be firm if needed.
We would highly recommend her."

We collect references for all of our tutors when they join. Not all referees agree to have their reference publically listed, but when they do we show them here.
Emily has a good reputation in tutoring. She is never afraid to ask if she is stuck with a student and always is honest and open. She inspires her students and works hard with them to help them feel supported.

Emily, like all of our tutors, is a qualified teacher and has been interviewed by us personally. All of our tutors have at least two years of classroom teaching experience and come with fantastic references and criminal records checks.
