Philosophy and RE

Tom's biography:

Tom is a strong subject specialist with excellent teaching experience in some of the country’s top schools, including King’s School Canterbury, Queen's College London, City of London Girls, and North London Collegiate School. He has strong experience of different exam boards including Cambridge Pre-U, Philosophy IB and Edexcel. For the OCR RS A level, he has (very unusually) taught complete two year cycles of Ethics, Philosophy of Religion and Developments in Christian Thought so he is a real subject expert of the latest OCR requirements. For OCR he has also taught Buddhism, New Testament and Old Testament.

His tutoring work generally focuses on RS GCSE, RS and Philosophy A Level, IB and Oxbridge, often supporting tutees who need to lift their grades, who have missed work or need help structuring and writing their exam answers. He combines a relaxed, positive style of tutoring with an honest and reassuring approach, and clearly loves the learning that’s involved in his subject.

Tom studied RS all the way through school, did a Philosophy and Theology degree at Oxford University, as well as postgraduate studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies. A former BBC World Service journalist, author and researcher in religion-related projects, he now combines tutoring with media work. When he’s not doing that, he’s probably playing cricket or racket sports

Tom's qualifications:

Tom qualified to teach Religious Education in 2004, and holds a PGCE from King’s College London.
