Tom's biography

Tom studied Physics at Imperial College, graduating in 2003 and going on to work as a Project Manager at Defra. In 2006 he took a job tutoring in order to better utilise the knowledge gained from his degree, and quickly found that he was enjoying this far more than his day job. This soon led to his enrolling onto a PGCE at the Institute of Education. After passing with top marks in all his modules, he taught in two challenging London comprehensive schools, before going on to work at a highly-rated grammar school in Kingston.

In addition to teaching, Tom ran the school's science club and termly gig nights, finding time to front the teachers' band along the way. Tom has been playing guitar since he was 11, playing in many bands and has toured with prestigious acts like Babyshambles and The Maccabees. He has also run a comedy club in East London, performed as a stand up at the Edinburgh Fringe and supported several famous comedians.

Tom is one of our most successful Common Entrance tutors. He has experience in preparing students for Alleyn's, Dulwich College, St Paul's, Eton, Harrow, Westminster, Winchester, Charterhouse, Trinity, Whitgift, King's College School, Wimbledon, Hampton. He has also successfully helped students pass the Eton King's Scholarship and the Westminster Challenge.
