Ed's biography

Ed has 14 years of experience in tutoring, alongside five years of classroom teaching experience at the secondary level and an additional 4 years spent teaching undergraduate students of history at a Russell Group university. He graduated with a First in History from the University of Cambridge (BA Hons).

His interest in the past then took him to Northern Japan, where he worked as an English teacher and later undertook graduate-level research into the region’s history at a local university funded by a Japanese government scholarship. Between 2002 and 2003, he also studied for an MA in Modern East Asian Studies at Durham University.

Having returned to the UK, he completed his PGCE at the University of Oxford. After several years of tutoring and classroom teaching, he returned to higher education, gaining an MA in Historical Research at Birkbeck, University of London, followed by a PhD from Queen Mary, University of London.
