Lawrence grew up in Switzerland, where he studied the International Baccalauareate (IB) at the Inter Community School of Zurich. After completing his school education he moved to the UK to study biochemistry at the University of Bath. Despite having a strong interest in biochemistry after having worked in oncology and retrovirology laboratories, Lawrence decided to move into teaching. Lawrence was accepted onto the competitive Teach First program in 2004 and taught science for two years in an inner-city school in Islington. After two years of teaching, Lawrence turned his attention to the world of business and joined Lloyds Banking Group where he spent most of his time restructuring heavily indebted businesses as a result of the Credit Crunch in 2007. Lawrence set up Owl Tutors in 2011, allowing him to combine his love for education with his business experience. He spends his days overseeing the growth of the business, learning new technical skills and sourcing the very best teachers from around the world to tutor for Owl Tutors.

"Emily was my son's online tutor for 12 months helping to prepare him for several challenging London school 7+ exams. He was 5 when he started his lessons with Emily and 6 towards the end. Emily employed a 'firm but fair' approach from the outset which worked very well. It's not easy keeping a 5 year old boy in front of a laptop, working on Maths and English questions/papers, for 60 minutes every week. Emily kept him focused and engaged throughout. Emily also helped us to understand how to support and guide our son throughout the year with appropriate Maths and English work in order to continue to develop his skills away from school and lessons. We were very happy with Emily's teaching style and approach and of course the successful outcome. We would highly recommend Emily."
