The tenets of Matthew's teaching philosophy include student-centred support, skill development, inspiration, rigour, creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking achieved through a range of teaching strategies (including modelling, questioning and coaching), cognitive processes (designed to embed knowledge and skills in students' long-term memory), feedback approaches and assessment methods. Matthew enjoys supporting students' extracurricular interests in journalism, debating and advocacy. Outside of the classroom, Matthew pursues his sporting interests (cycling, tennis and football), practises his linguistic proficiencies (Spanish and French) and enjoys travel.
