7 Plus Spelling 13

Explanation: The last consonant of the root words is doubled. Exception: the letter ‘x’ is never doubled (e.g. mixing, mixed, boxer)

Teaching Ideas: Give your child a list of the root words (pat, hum, drop) and a list of the suffixes (ing,ed,er,est,y). Ask them to make as many words (spelt correctly) as possible in 2 minutes.
