Explanation: It is more common for adjectives to end in ‘al’.

Teaching Ideas: Practise the example words. Point out to your child that words with short vowel sounds (apple, middle, bottle etc.) have a double consonant in the middle. - Write down a range of words without their endings (midd/le, tow/el, met/al) and ask your child to add the correct ending. - Create a grid with the four columns ‘le, el, al,il’. Give your child a list of words and ask them to sort them into the grid.
