Edward's biography

Edward is a highly experienced GCSE and IB Diploma Programme practitioner with 6 years experience of leading the IBDP at 2 different international schools. His specialist subject is Geography which he has taught for 14 years and has 4 years experience teaching Theory of Knowledge. He has a passion for both subjects which encourages his students to find personal links within the material and supports their ongoing learning and understanding. He is able to support students with key elements of the programme such as the Geography Extended Essay and Internal Assessment and the Theory of Knowledge Essay and Exhibition. Edward is also an experienced IBDP Geography examiner.

Edward graduated from Reading University in 2002 with a degree in Human Geography and completed his PGCE in Geography from Nottingham University in 2005. Since the completion of his education he has taught Geography in North Wales, Peru, Malaysia and Egypt to a wide variety of learners with great success. He hopes that his ongoing enthusiasm for the subjects he teaches will continue to support learners achieve their potential in the IB Diploma Programme.

IB Experience

Edward has 14 years experience teaching IBDP Geography at Higher and Standard Levels. He has expert subject knowledge and in depth understanding of exam techniques and how to structure answers for assessment. He can also advise on how to conduct and structure an IBDP Geography Internal Assessment and Extended Essay. In addition to these skills he has been an IBDP Geography examiner.

Edward is also available to tutor students in Theory of Knowledge which he has taught for 4 years and he is confident supporting students in writing their Theory of Knowledge essays and developing ideas for their exhibitions.

In addition to this Edward has been the IBDP Coordinator for two International schools in Cairo and Kuala Lumpur with 6 years experience in the role. He was responsible for overseeing the entire IBDP programme and he managed and ran the Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay courses alongside the respective coordinators. He was also Head of Geography at a previous school in Lima, Peru for 3 years.

It is important to note that Edward is continuing to teach IBDP Geography and Theory of Knowledge in his current school and he will be tutoring students alongside this role. This will give him access to up to date and relevant resources and he will be informed of the latest developments in the respective courses.
