Tutor profile - Janette

Janette gained a first class honours degree in Biology from the University of Cardiff. She then achieved a PGCE from the University of Southampton where she was awarded the Southampton Teachers Association Prize as the best PGCE student of the year.

Janette has enjoyed teaching in a variety of different schools and is currently teaching in a small, successful private school after almost 8 years teaching Biology at one of the top state grammar schools in the country. She has an infectious enthusiasm for her subject which inspires the students she teaches. She has a patient approach to teaching and encourages students to strive to achieve to the best of their ability. She is proud that one of her GCSE Biology students attained 197 out of 200 mark in the summer 2023 examinations session.

In addition to her classroom teaching she has been a private tutor for more than 15 years. She enjoys the opportunities this allows to work with each student as an individual building the self-confidence which underpins their success.

Janette is also an experienced senior examiner with more than 15 years examining experience at both GCSE and A level. This work has given her an invaluable insight into the intricacies of often very strict mark schemes.

In her spare time reading is a passion, as is walking through beautiful countryside with her children, enjoying the wonders of the natural world. She also enjoys yoga which she finds an invaluable tool for relaxation.
