That’s why all of our tutors are not only certified educators but have also successfully passed our rigorous assessment process, proving they are truly exceptional teachers!
Our hourly rates start from £70.00 and increase depending on experience and availability. Please see the table below for indicative price ranges for different types and levels of tutoring.

A placement fee of £95 is payable for each tutor that is introduced to you - this will only be charged if a tuition session takes place and will be added to your first invoice.
There are no registration fees. This means that you can meet a tutor without having to pay anything. You will only be invoiced if you engage one of our tutors to deliver tuition after having discussed your requirements with them.

How can I save money when using an Owl Tutor
Consider online tuition if you have not already done so. Most students at KS2 or above will have no problem engaging just as efficiently with an online tutor than a face to face one. Face to face tuition can be up to 50% more expensive for the same tutor!
Consider shorter sessions. Most tuition sessions are one hour. 40 minute sessions can often be effective and could reduce your fees by 33%.
Find out if there are times that you can offer to your tutor that are more convenient for them. Most tutors find it difficult to fill their hours during the day (9am to 3pm) in the week. Many of them will accept lower rates at these times.

Alison's biography
Alison completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Glasgow before relocating to Japan to teach English as an Additional Language, before moving to teaching early years. In order to be able to better support her students, she studied a postgraduate course in Language and Communication Impairment in Children at the University of Sheffield. Keen to make a stronger impact and to support students, she returned to the U.K. to complete her PGDE in English and become a qualified secondary teacher in English. In 2024, Alison completed her Masters of Education in Professional Practice, focusing on the impact of translanguaging as a tool to support language learners.
She has taught Scottish Nationals and Highers and now teaches the IB MYP and DP, delivering quality lessons in both Language Acquisition and Language and Literature. Additionally, Alison works with IB as an English A Language and Literature examiner, and as a member of the IB Educators' Network.
Alison has experience supporting students not only with English A and English B exams, but also with the Extended Essay in English A, B and in World Studies. She is able to work with a wide range of students and will strive to not only meet the needs of students, but to help them excel and to feel confident about their abilities.
In addition to classroom teaching, Alison has been successfully tutoring students for exams for over 7 years.
IB Experience
Alison has taught MYP language acquistion phases 2-5, and MYP language and literature. She has also taught English B at Standard and Higher level and English A at Standard level. Alison has supervised the Community Project, Personal Project, worked as a CAS advisor and supervised the Extended Essay in English A, B and in World Studies. She is the Lead Teacher for English B in her workplace. She has completed a Category 2 workshop in English B, and Category 3 workshops for MYP Creating Authentic Units, Learning Diversity and Inclusion, and IBED Social and Emotional Learning. Additionally, Alison works in the IB Educators Network as a team member, leader and consultant for preparing, verifying and evaluating schools in both the MYP and DP programmes.
