We believe that qualified teachers are uniquely positioned to provide outstanding tuition. However, we also recognise that not all qualified teachers excel in their craft. That’s why all of our tutors are not only certified educators but have also successfully passed our rigorous assessment process, proving they are truly exceptional teachers!

A placement fee of £95 is payable for each tutor that is introduced to you - this will only be charged if a tuition session takes place and will be added to your first invoice.
There are no registration fees. This means that you can meet a tutor without having to pay anything. You will only be invoiced if you engage one of our tutors to deliver tuition after having discussed your requirements with them.
Why do our tutors cost what they do?
They are all experienced qualified teachers.
Many of our school entrance tutors have significant experience and track records in preparing students for competitive school entrance exams
Many of our tutors are also examiners
They have achieved academic excellence themselves
Many of our tutors have achieved other relevant skills such as qualifications to assist students with special educational needs
How can I save money when using an Owl Tutor
Consider online tuition if you have not already done so. Most students at KS2 or above will have no problem engaging just as efficiently with an online tutor than a face to face one. Face to face tuition can be up to 50% more expensive for the same tutor!
Consider shorter sessions. Most tuition sessions are one hour. 40 minute sessions can often be effective and could reduce your fees by 33%.
Find out if there are times that you can offer to your tutor that are more convenient for them. Most tutors find it difficult to fill their hours during the day (9am to 3pm) in the week. Many of them will accept lower rates at these times.
How do our fees work?
Our tutors set the rates that they wish to be paid on each job. The rate that they will request will be dependent on a number of factors including:
The rate they wish to earn per hour
Whether the job is face to face or online
How much preparation time is required for each session
The tutor's remaining availability
Thandie's biography
With over 12 years of teaching and tutoring experience from KS3 to A-Level, Thandie offers expert guidance tailored to the individual needs of each student. Specialising in Science—particularly Chemistry and Physics—she has a strong track record of helping learners identify their starting point and make real, measurable progress. Based in Wales, she currently works predominantly with the WJEC exam board but also has substantial experience with AQA and OCR, offering a broad understanding of various specifications and assessment requirements.
Thandie holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry and completed her initial teacher training with an Outstanding-rated School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider. This foundation gave her a strong pedagogical grounding, combining academic theory with practical classroom expertise. She has since held several leadership roles.
As Second in Department, where she focused on driving improvements in the Key Stage 3 Science curriculum, she led curriculum planning and development to ensure a smooth progression into Key Stage 4, with engaging and well-sequenced learning that built students’ knowledge, skills, and curiosity in science from an early stage.
Thandie also served as Digital Lead Practitioner for Science during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting the department's transition to effective online learning. She developed digital resources, led staff training, and introduced tools and strategies that maintained high levels of student engagement and progress in a remote setting—skills she continues to apply in blended and online learning environments today.
She has also spent several years as the Lead Teacher of Triple Science (Chemistry), a role that demanded both advanced subject knowledge and the ability to stretch high-achieving students.
In addition to her classroom experience, Thandie has worked as an examiner. This insight into the marking process enables her to guide students on how to interpret questions, structure answers effectively, and understand exactly what examiners are looking for—essential skills for exam success.
Her teaching is student-led, flexible, and always focused on developing confidence as well as competence. Whether supporting students aiming for top grades or those who need a confidence boost, she adapts her approach to meet each learner where they are.
Friendly, approachable, and passionate about education, Thandie creates a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, embrace challenges, and achieve their academic goals with confidence.
Thandie qualified to teach Chemistry in 2019, and holds a PGCE, QTS from University of Buckingham.
