Tamsyn

Tamsyn has been a qualified science teacher since 2008, including 10 years’ experience teaching in secondary schools. She held leadership positions as Head of Biology and Head of KS4 Science. During this time Tamsyn taught biology, chemistry and physics at KS3 and GCSE. She taught biology, chemistry and applied science at A-level. Tamsyn developed her tutoring skills by running individual and groups revision classes for students to prepare them for exams. She now tutors privately alongside her work as a coach and facilitator. By combining her teaching and coaching skills, Tamsyn gains a clear understanding of what each student needs, enabling her to personalise their learning. She supports her students to build confidence, close knowledge gaps and master exam technique.

Tamsyn encourages her students to be curious, to ask questions and to challenge themselves with deeper critical thinking. She provides ample opportunity for students to practise exam questions, giving feedback using modelling and structuring techniques.

Tamsyn has a Masters of Medical Science (MMedSci) from the University of Sheffield. She has many years of experience working in the health and charity sectors, applying her scientific knowledge to different professional environments. This enables Tamsyn to being context to her students’ learning and application of science, making it more relevant and engaging for them.
