Sam

Sam is a highly experienced and knowledgeable English tutor with nearly 20 years of teaching experience. He delivers tutoring sessions in GCSE and IGCSE English Language, GCSE and IGCSE English Literature and A Level English Literature (across multiple exam boards: AQA [both A and B], OCR, Edexcel [both UK and International], and Eduqas at A Level; various at GCSE and IGCSE, with details available on request). He is also a current A Level examiner (OCR Comparative and Contextual Study, Paper 2; H472/02) and former IGCSE English Literature examiner. He has a wealth of subject knowledge (he has a Cambridge First, an MA [awarded with Distinction, fully funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council], and a PhD; all in English) and many years of experience teaching both English Literature (his specialism) and English Language, starting in 2008, across multiple education sectors (Higher Education, Further Education, state, and private).

As well as extensive direct classroom experience, he has been a Subject Lead for A Level English, in charge of overseeing curriculum construction and delivery across disciplines, so he is well prepared to ensure student learning is constructed in an optimal way, designed for success.

He is a qualified teacher (he has held QTLS since 2021) and a fully safeguarded pedagogical professional (he has a current Enhanced DBS, and is signed up to the DBS update service). Having spent much of his teaching career in the classroom, he now focuses on delivering online tuition, and has done so to students on a wide variety of exam boards (see above) for the past year.
