Jennifer is an experienced Primary practitioner with a student centred approach to tuition which involves creating curiosity for the subject as well as building pupils' confidence in order to achieve success. Jennifer believes in discussing progress with the student at regular intervals to identify misconceptions and next steps and thereby allowing students to take charge of their own learning.
Sarah is 30 years old and has been a Primary School Teacher for 5 years and a Tutor for three years. She began her teaching career at 18 where she worked in a behavioural unit, then she was a Teaching Assistant working with SEN children in a secondary school in Shropshire.
Having graduated from Sheffield University (BA English Literature, 2-1) in 2004, Ben completed his PGCE at Bristol in 2007. He has then spent 13 continuous years teaching in top UK independent and international school sectors, including roles as Head of Department at Uppingham, Deputy Head of Department at St Albans and Head of Year at the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City.
Following her graduation from Cambridge University where Ria specialised in English Literature with Education, she went on to teach in a variety of primary schools, mostly independent preparatory schools. She also became Head of Year at a number of these schools and took part in a Teacher's International Professional Development exchange visit where she was given the opportunity to teach in China.
Sallie is an experienced international mathematics teacher whose main passion in education is working with students to build understanding. She forges links between the material they already understand and what they still need to develop, working with the student as an individual with their own levels of understanding.
Ally has nine years worth of experience in education since qualifying as as an outstanding teacher through the prestigious Teach First programme (a fast-track teacher training scheme for high-achieving graduates). Ally obtained the highest-possible ratings for her teaching from Ofsted due to the exceptional progress her pupils made.
"(Student) was accepted into Ardingly but unfortunately not Brighton. We believe the exams went well and that she did not present the picture they were looking for at interview stage.
Jay proved to be an outstanding Maths tutor for our daughter - he prepared her within the space of three short months for challenging school entrance exams. From the very first lesson he identified her strengths and weaknesses and she was quickly on to learning new topics which Jay knew would be potentially covered in the entrance exams Scarlett was sitting.
Jay is encouraging, knowledgeable, full of tips and alternative ways of addressing questions. He is firm on the basics and effusive and very genuine in his praise. Our daughter went from believing she was struggling in Maths to being very confident and actually finding it is one of her strongest subjects.
She looked forwards to every session, essentially working through past papers at several levels and targeting areas of difficulty, she found them fun and bounced out of them full of news on what she had learned and how intriguing the topic was.
I would without hesitation work with Jay again and highly recommend him, I am only sorry that he is not a teacher at our daughters school !!
