What parents and students say about our tutoring for Ardingly College

(Student) was accepted into Ardingly but unfortunately not Brighton. We believe the exams went well and that she did not present the picture they were looking for at interview stage. Jay proved to be an outstanding Maths tutor for our daughter - he prepared her within the space of three short months for challenging school entrance exams. From the very first lesson he identified her strengths and weaknesses and she was quickly on to learning new topics which Jay knew would be potentially covered in the entrance exams Scarlett was sitting. Jay is encouraging, knowledgeable, full of tips and alternative ways of addressing questions. He is firm on the basics and effusive and very genuine in his praise. Our daughter went from believing she was struggling in Maths to being very confident and actually finding it is one of her strongest subjects. She looked forwards to every session, essentially working through past papers at several levels and targeting areas of difficulty, she found them fun and bounced out of them full of news on what she had learned and how intriguing the topic was. I would without hesitation work with Jay again and highly recommend him, I am only sorry that he is not a teacher at our daughters school !! Kind Regards

As a result of a late decision to return to the UK from abroad we enlisted the support of Michael to support our daughter in preparing for 13+ style exams in English in order to gain entry to our choice schools. As a result of having been in the international education system for the past five years her ability to respond to more advanced English Comprehension questions was lacking and this was identified very early into our sessions. Michael was incredibly supportive particularly at introducing her to the concept of analyzing a piece of literature in order to interpret the writers intentions as well as identifying literary devices through quotes which are key parts of any English Exam. Michael was always encouraging and kind yet insistent when it came to ensuring she had truly understood the question and provided an appropriate response to merit the number of marks available. He set relevant homework and past paper practice at each session and always followed up on this in the following session to ensure continuity of effort. We as parents found him very professional and focused as well as being a pleasure to deal with.
