The Hall School entrance guide

The Hall School is a prep school for boys situated in Hampstead in north-west London. Established in 1889, it caters for ages 4-13 on a day basis only, and occupies three buildings close to each other: the Junior School, Middle School and Senior School. Most boys enter reception (4+ entry) and stay until the end of Year 8, after which they move to a 13+ independent school. This means that there are rarely places available at any other entry point. Below you can find our guide to The Hall School and details of our tutors who have helped families seeking admission to this popular London school.

4+ Entry to The Hall School

Registration for The Hall School must take place before the applicant is 12 months old. The school receives around 6 applications for every place, even with this deadline in place. Families are then invited to two Open Events as detailed above, and further information is gathered prior to these events by the school.

My son has made great progress with David. He has a wonderfully calm presence which creates a positive learning environment. Thank you, David.
Graham is a highly experienced tutor, my son is excelling in his lessons he has grown in confidence and ability since starting lessons with Graham. I highly recommend Graham for anyone who wants lessons to be fun and tailored to their child you will see the difference very quickly!
We couldn’t be happier with our daughter’s 11+ tutor, Jamie. He is incredibly reliable, patient, and engaging, and has managed to make our 10-year-old genuinely excited about her sessions and motivated to study. He is thorough in his teaching and always provides regular, constructive feedback, which helps us understand her progress and where to focus next. He’s also very flexible and accommodating, which we really appreciate as busy parents. What stands out most is how well he connects with children. He knows exactly how to build their confidence and make learning enjoyable. He is also very knowledgeable and supportive when it comes to researching schools and exam preparation, which has been invaluable. His positive attitude and encouragement have made a huge difference to our daughter’s mindset and progress. We would highly recommend him to any family looking for a tutor who combines expertise with genuine care and enthusiasm.
Our son has enjoyed each and every English lesson with Aisha. We are very pleased with the progress our son has made under Aisha's guidance and just can't ask for a better tutor.
Gil is a fantastic tutor. My son not only learnt a lot of maths in his lessons with Gil but also thoroughly enjoyed the lessons. Gil is a great communicator and promptly informed me of how each lesson went, which was really helpful. We felt very fortunate to have Gil as our son's maths tutor - our son was offered a place at all the schools to which he applied.
