Tutor profile - Sean

Sean is a highly experienced professional English teacher, with over ten years of classroom experience at high-achieving secondary schools in the UK, Spain and the Middle East. He also holds a degree in English Language, graduating with First-Class Honours from The University of Manchester in 2008.

Now working exclusively as a full-time tutor, Sean specialises in teaching English Language and English Literature, and he has an outstanding track record of helping both domestic and international students reach and surpass their goals, most notably in the GCSE, IGCSE, A-level and IB exams. Many of his students have gone on to study at Oxbridge, as well as esteemed Russell Group universities.

Sean’s tutoring experience also extends to preparing classes of students from highly reputable UK schools such as King’s College School (KCS), University College School (UCS) and Repton School for all sections of the rigorous American university entrance exams: the SAT (English and maths) and the ACT (English, maths and science). A high proportion of these students have gained places at some of the most prestigious universities in the United States.

When connecting with a new student, Sean’s immediate priority is to work alongside student and parents to ascertain their requirements and goals, before establishing a bespoke learning pathway that is realistic and clearly defined but also fluid and flexible. It is Sean’s firm belief that the 'why' and the 'how' of the learning journey are just as important as the 'what' and so he works to ensure that the answers to all three of these questions are addressed at each step of the way. Alongside the attainment of academic excellence, Sean’s goal is to nurture in his students a spirit of inquisitiveness, enthusiasm and independence; it is these qualities that lead to highly successful, fulfilling and, ultimately, happy lives.
