Robert is an experienced, Oxford-educated teacher and tutor of History, Classics, and Ancient History, with a proven track record of helping students to reach their fullest potential. He spent four years as Head of History in a high-performing London school, raised A Level results to their highest ever level, and placed 13 students in Oxford or Cambridge courses following a dedicated program of one-to-one prep sessions. As a published author of a widely used textbook series, he also has close familiarity with almost all commonly taught history and ancient history topics in UK schools.
Robert's academic background is in both History and Classics, with a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford in Greek and Roman History (graduated with distinction in 2016). Prior to commencing his degree at Oxford he studied History and Classics for four years at the Australian National Univeristy, where he graduated in 2013 with honours. Driven by a sincere passion for communicating and teaching the subjects he loves, he has worked in teaching and tutoring for the past eight years.
Robert is also one of the authors of the Knowing History textbook series published by Harper Collins, which is used in History departments throughout the country and commands over 10% of Key Stage 3 History textbooks sales in the UK. Writing and contributing to these books across multiple editions entailed researching and designing teaching resources for a vast range of topics, far beyond the wide range that have taught in the classroom, and has equipped him with the subject knowledge to instruct students in a much wider range of areas than most history teacher.
Robert finds that working one-on-one with students allows him to have the greatest possible impact on their education. Through focused, tailored teaching of key material and precise guided practice, he has found that it is possible to dramatically and permanently improve a student's performance.
