Aleksandra's biography

Aleksandra is an IB specialist and Oxford University trained teacher who helped hundreds of students to achieve top grades in their final exams. She taught for over 10 years in top Oxford and international schools helping students to overcome exam anxiety and achieve their full potential.
Aleksandra has tutored and taught all levels in mathematics - KS2, KS3, GCSEs, A-levels and IB. She has also organised coding and robotics workshops and after-school classes. Aleksandra also speaks Latvian, Spanish and Russian and can support students with EAL (English as Additional language) and transition from different educational systems.

Aleksandra has taught mathematics and IT in both state and independent schools in Oxford and recently in the Bahamas. She truly believes that every student CAN understand and enjoy mathematics and she is passionate about problem - solving strategies and building her students' confidence. IB, particularly Analysis and Approaches, is Aleksandra's main interest and she is really enjoys seeing her students becoming true IB learners - independent, reflective and balances thinkers. Aleksandra prefers to lead by example and motivate students to be risk-takers and decision-makers, instead of just following the rules.

When you learn maths with Aleksandra, you will discover different approaches and methods and Aleksandra will help you to improve your confidence when facing new and unfamiliar problems. Maths is fun when you learn with Aleksandra.

IB Experience

At St. Andrews Aleksandra taught both AA and AI courses in the International School in the Bahamas. In her AA class she had 2 students who were covering the higher level, so she covered the topics from the higher level both in class and outside the classroom.

Aleksandra also organised IB maths clinic to support her students who struggled with the content. IB AA is a challenging course and Aleksandra always made sure that she discussed "sneaky" and "unusual" problem solving questions with her students in depth, making sure they are confident and have tools to solve similar kind of problems on their own.
Aleksandra favourite topic from the AI course is Voronoi diagrams which connects maths and history beautifully and proof by induction from the AA course higher level.
