Tutor profile - Lucy

Lucy is a teacher, tutor and writer with a master’s degree who spent a decade working as a reporter and editor for the Financial Times in London.

She qualified as a teacher in 2017 and was graded outstanding, training at Glenthorne High School and Wallington County Grammar School, both outstanding schools. She has a strong track record in one-to-one tuition, tutoring students who have passed entrance exams to Benenden, Harrow (UK) and Westminster School. In addition, she is a specialist in English as an additional language and holds a Trinity CertTESOL. In recent months, she has honed her online skills, teaching on a variety of digital platforms including Zoom, Loom, Google Meet and Google Classroom and Skype.

Lucy brings a unique set of skills to her work. She is able to teach students how to write with authority and flair and successfully edit their own work. Her comment pieces and news stories regularly featured on the FT’s front and op ed pages as well as the FT Weekend Magazine. She has also written for The Los Angeles Times and The Independent.

She is passionate about teaching and particularly enjoys seeing the rapid progress that takes place as a result of individual, personalised tuition.
