We believe that qualified teachers are uniquely positioned to provide outstanding tuition. However, we also recognise that not all qualified teachers excel in their craft. That’s why all of our tutors are not only certified educators but have also successfully passed our rigorous assessment process, proving they are truly exceptional teachers!

Why do our tutors cost what they do?
They are all experienced qualified teachers.
Many of our school entrance tutors have significant experience and track records in preparing students for competitive school entrance exams
Many of our tutors are also examiners
They have achieved academic excellence themselves
Many of our tutors have achieved other relevant skills such as qualifications to assist students with special educational needs
How can I save money when using an Owl Tutor
Consider online tuition if you have not already done so. Most students at KS2 or above will have no problem engaging just as efficiently with an online tutor than a face to face one. Face to face tuition can be up to 50% more expensive for the same tutor!
Consider shorter sessions. Most tuition sessions are one hour. 40 minute sessions can often be effective and could reduce your fees by 33%.
Find out if there are times that you can offer to your tutor that are more convenient for them. Most tutors find it difficult to fill their hours during the day (9am to 3pm) in the week. Many of them will accept lower rates at these times.
How do our fees work?
Our tutors set the rates that they wish to be paid on each job. The rate that they will request will be dependent on a number of factors including:
The rate they wish to earn per hour
Whether the job is face to face or online
How much preparation time is required for each session
The tutor's remaining availability
Amelia's biography
Amelia is an experienced IB teacher and examiner who completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge. Having completed her degree, she then went straight into teaching - and has never looked back.
Amelia has taught in classrooms for almost a decade, specialising in IB English and Anthropology, as well as GCSE English (both AQA and Edexcel). As well as being a teacher, she was also the KS5 coordinator for English and Anthropology. In the last two years, Amelia has got into tutoring. This has been an exciting opportunity to provide one to one support for students and help them achieve their potential. It also means she now has experience tutoring the Cambridge IGCSE and supporting students with the 13+ exams - all with excellent results.
All in all, Amelia is an extremely experienced teacher and tutor. Her approach to education is focused entirely around the student, with discussion and inquiry-based learning at the forefront of all her sessions. Her enthusiasm is infectious, but it is grounded in the attention to detail required for exemplary results.
IB Experience
Amelia is an extremely experienced IB teacher. She did the IB herself, attaining 41 points overall with 7, 7, 6 in her Higher Level subjects. This means that as well as being able to guide her students as their teacher, she is also able to fully empathise with what is at times a very challenging course.
Amelia has taught the IB for nine years, focusing on English Literature, English Language and Literature, and Anthropology. She has guided both SL and HL students through the course, helping them attain the best possible grades.
Finally, Amelia is also an IB examiner, meaning she has an inside understanding of the curriculum and assessment.
