Tutor profile - Alex

Alex is a passionate and dedicated English teacher and tutor and has extensive experience working one to one and in classrooms. He is available to tutor students for 11+ and 13+ exams and English GCSE and A-Level. He works an AQA English examiner and has in-depth knowledge of the language and literature papers across all exam boards.

Alex trained with Teach First, achieving his Qualified Teacher Status and PDGE in Secondary English in 2023. Prior to working as a classroom teacher, he worked for two years as a Tutor and Mentor helping students with their academic and personal progress at a leading state school in Hackney. He has helped failing students pass and other students achieve top grades.

Alex's approach values patience, positivity and encouragement. He believes in the importance of firm boundaries and challenge and has extensive experience teaching students with a range of SEND needs.

Alex is also a playwright and screenwriter. His plays have been produced at venues across London and he uses his knowledge of drama to inform his English teaching and bring joy to the subject. In his free time, he loves to read fiction, hike, play football, tennis, swim and travel to new places across the world.
