Lucy is a professional, highly organised and friendly English Tutor with over 10 years’ experience of classroom-based teaching. She is proficient at preparing pupils for 11+, 13+ and GCSE examinations, and promotes strategy-based English teaching that empowers pupils with the problem-solving skills to tackle examination material logically and methodically. Her specialisms include how to approach complex, multi-layered English Language material with method and strategy, building pupil confidence and independence and excellent subject knowledge.
Lucy studied English Language and Linguistics at the University of York before training to be an English teacher. She taught for many years in maintained secondary schools before moving into the independent School sector, including her post as Founding Head of English at Rugby School Thailand – sister school to Rugby UK.
In addition to tutoring, Lucy has had very recent experience examining and writing 11+ and 13+ English material for Common Entrance, giving her a wide perspective of the requirements and challenges with which these assessments present to pupils.
