Luke's biography

Luke is a highly experienced teacher having taught at primary schools in London for over twelve years. Having completed his degree in Commercial Music at University of Westminster, Luke began a career in education as a one-to-one teacher assistant at a local primary school. After experiencing the passion, pride and patience shown by his mentors, Luke decided to qualify as a teacher through the Graduate Teacher Programme working at an outstanding school in North London.

Luke worked as a class teacher in Year 4 for two years in Hackney having contributed to the school’s outstanding Ofsted qualification. He soon realised that the best outcomes for children’s education occur when absolute dedication is given to identifying gaps in children’s learning and working in small groups in order to set targets and work to specific children’s needs rather than focus on whole class outcomes.

This led to Luke taking on an intervention specialist role at a new school, working with small groups of pupils consolidating knowledge and teaching in the build up to their SATs. Having recorded Year 6 SAT results above the national average, Luke was offered the placement of class teacher. Luke has spent the last seven years as a class teacher in Hackney, three of which as a Year 6 teacher guiding children through the transition to secondary school, again achieving higher than national average SATs results. He has been the Modern Foreign Language lead for four years promoting the love of learning the Spanish language across the curriculum and throughout the school community.

Luke also has great experience working with a diverse cohort of children, including pupils diagnosed with ADHD, ASD and dyslexia. Upon reference, one of Luke’s greatest strengths lies in his pastoral care, working closely with parents and carers in order to achieve the best results for their children.

Luke is compassionate, patient and caring. Having worked in the educational sector for a number of years, he knows that the best teachers listen, learn and build to achieve.
