Carl has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:
Carl is a highly-qualified tutor, teacher and examiner with an outstanding track record of helping students to succeed. His students consistently achieve top grades, and a high proportion every year progress to study medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, chemical engineering and chemistry at leading universities.
After obtaining a Masters in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Manchester, he completed a PhD in organic chemistry at Durham University, before founding a high-tech chemistry and engineering company in 2003. Having enjoyed the satisfaction of helping students achieve their target grades as a part-time tutor, he decided to train as a teacher and completed a PGCE from Newcastle University in 2013, gaining QTS the same year.
His professional experience has been developed through roles as a teacher of GCSE sciences and A level chemistry, a private tutor of chemistry up to university level, and as an examiner for GCSE, A level and International Baccalaureate Diploma chemistry.
Having enjoyed a successful career in the chemical industry, he also has the real-world experience needed to bring science to life and teach beyond the textbook. Drawing on his science and business background, he can add significant value by helping students with university applications, interview preparation and coursework.
Carl now works as a full-time professional tutor and examiner, enabling him to be 100% focused on his students and their exam success all the time.
When he is not teaching or tutoring, Carl enjoys playing and composing piano music, cooking (especially Japanese cuisine) and taking long walks on his local beach.
Carl qualified to teach Chemistry in 2013, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Newcastle University.

"I have worked with Carl for a few months in IB Chemistry. His help was benefit from my point of view. We focused a lot on questions and looked at the theory when needed. When explaining Carl was very precise with his word choice which made everything easier to understand. The class was very interesting and made the hours go by very quickly. He is someone that listen and is easy to talk to. "

"Сarl is an exceptional tutor. In addition to his high level knowledge of subjects, he can interest a child in studying of science that each lesson will being looked forward. Before Carl started to prepare my son for 13+ exams to top rated schools, the topic of each session was planed a year in advance before the exam to cover all the material. As a result, my son has got offers of place in both schools. Thanks a lot Carl!"
