Karen

Karen has over 20 years of classroom teaching experience in the British curriculum in state and independent schools, including Modern Languages Department management. She has taught in schools in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Australia. Karen provides bespoke interactive online lessons in German and French, including for students with SEN. Karen holds a BA degree in German with Hispanic Studies from the University of Nottingham, and a PGCE in German with French from the University of Cambridge. She also holds a PGCert in Psychology from the University of Liverpool.

Karen offers a proven track record for improving student attainment (testimonials available) by inspiring enjoyment of languages through well prepared, individually tailored, engaging lessons. She uses a variety of activities and strategies to ensure her lessons are interesting, fun and keep students engaged. She gets to know her students and uses insight gained from her psychology qualification to create a safe space for optimal achievement and wellbeing. Karen models high standards and lifelong learning.

Karen understands the mental health challenges for young people, and having two daughters educated in multiple countries, she has personal experience of the impact of change, the pressures faced with examinations, and further education choices.
