David's biography
David studied English at Trinity College Dublin, where he also completed a Masters. Since graduating in 2008, he has worked a variety of London schools, including Mander Portman Woodward, Hampton Court House, and Trinity School, Croydon. He completed his Teaching Qualification with the University of Sussex. David teaches English language and literature, Classical Civilisation, and Drama and Theatre Studies.
He has an outstanding record of helping students achieve their potential across both GCSE and A level. Since he began teaching in 2008, he has covered over 150 different texts across all the major exam boards (OCR, Edexcel/Pearson, AQA, WJEC, Cambridge).
David's approach to teaching is student-orientated - by establishing the interests and working methods of the student, he is able to holistically work towards their goals. Using this approach, several of his students have chosen to study his subject at University, including Oxbridge offers.
Whilst at MPW, David authored several A level course note guides on texts as diverse as A Doll's House, The Odyssey, Greek Tragedy, The Seagull, The Woman in Black, and Oh! What a Lovely War.
David has extensive experience of school entrance exams at 10+, 11+, 13+ and 16+ levels.
David is also a highly experienced Guitar teacher, having first taught in 2008.
When he is not teaching, David is often found pursuing his love of cricket, whether that be playing, coaching, or watching. He is also an avid theatre-goer and has written several plays and musicals which have been performed across the UK and Ireland.

David has taught several students for a wide range of entrance exams for a variety of South London selective schools. He has also marked and moderated numerous scripts for entrance exams so have an in-depth understanding of what selective schools are looking for in the assessment process.

David qualified to teach English in 2016, and holds a QTS from Sussex University.
