Mark's biography

Mark has almost 20 years of teaching experience in public and independent schools. He has been an examiner for English Language and English Literature GCSE (OCR and AQA) and English Literature and Classical Civilisation A-Level. He has worked at Senior Leadership level including Assistant Principal. He hold a Masters of Teaching and was awarded a Double First at Oxford. He is an English specialist, but also has taught and tutored Latin to GCSE.

He is an enthusiastic, energetic and encouraging teacher. He has excellent subject knowledge, a strong understanding of pedagogy, and a rigorous approach to learning. Mark has a deep understanding of how students can get the best grades and that informs his teaching.

For four years, Mark was a Head of House and has lots of experience of working with students who benefit from extra emotional and educational support to access the curriculum.

Mark has taught GCSE English Language and Literature since 2007. He has experience of teaching all three exam boards (OCR, AQA and Edexcel). Mark has been an examiner for English Literature and English Language GCSE. He has taught all papers and a great range of the set texts.

Mark has taught the Cambridge IGCSE Literature course: poetry, prose, drama and unseen.

Most recently has been teaching OCR A-Level English Literature. He has taught all units over the years (Comparative Study, Shakespeare, Drama and Coursework). He has examined for AQA A-Level English Literature (Poetry and Drama). Mark has also taught Classical Civilisation A-Level and examined for OCR on the World of the Hero paper.
