Aisha's biography

Aisha is the Head of Chemistry at a large urban comprehensive, leading a department that prides itself in raising attainment above the national average. Before this, she was Subject Leader for A-Level Biology for a year and developed both her A-Level Biology subject knowledge and teaching experience, resulting in a rare proficiency in teaching two Science A-Levels equally successfully. She has amassed 9 years of teaching and tutoring experience in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Science, 11+ Mathematics and Religious Studies. Furthermore, she has recently been recruited as:

- Assessment Specialist (examiner) for OCR A Level Chemistry B and OCR GCSE 9-1 Chemistry
- Assessment Associate (examiner) for Pearson (Edexcel) GCSE/iGCSE
- Examiner for AQA GCSE Chemistry

The road to her current position has involved achieving a Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences (Chemistry), a prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry teacher training scholarship, a PGDipEd followed by a Master's degree from the University of Birmingham, amidst a wealth of experience in working with learners from independent, state comprehensive and grammar schools.

Aisha's tutoring approach is friendly and approachable, with a clear focus on the tuition goals and regular assessment of the students' progress. She encourages a deeper understanding of subject content through inspiring a love of learning and sparking students' curiosity in Science whilst simultaneously providing independent work for her students to bring to the sessions. This develops independence in her learners and maximises the amount of collaborative one-to-one working during the tuition session itself. Her students can therefore take full advantage of her knowledge and expertise, in order to clear misconceptions and work on the areas they struggle to understand on their own. Regardless of the students' prior attainment, Aisha personalises the tuition content and approach to each individual to ensure they achieve to the best of their potential, whilst ensuring the learning process is rewarding and enjoyable.
