Gary clearly has the teaching and specification experience to quickly identify the areas that our our daughter needed to work on. He has been invaluable in helping her to better understand the nuances of the mark scheme and how she can structure her responses to better meet assessment objectives.

Our daughter particularly appreciated the prompt turnaround on written work (“he’s always there”) and the way Gary intuitively knew how she needed supporting, providing a carrot rather than a stick. She describes his help as “indispensable”: he has guided her to a point where she feels prepared, ready, and confident.

Gary's biography

Gary is an English teacher of more than 25 years experience who has taught at a selective, independent, co-ed senior school in England for the last 18 of those, several as Head of Department. He is the author of study guides on A Level texts and has worked as an examiner for most of his teaching career, including nearly 10 years examining International English Literature A Level. He is also a registered IB examiner and has considerable experience working with students with dyslexia and other moderate learning difficulties. He is looking to extend his tutoring portfolio over the next few years as he reduces his school teaching commitments.
