Meet our A level History tutors

All of our A Level History tutors are qualified teachers, and many also have experience as examiners. They know the Edexcel specification in depth and understand exactly how examiners apply the mark schemes. This means they can help students build both strong subject knowledge and the analytical skills needed for top grades. Lessons are interactive and tailored to each student, ensuring that sessions are both challenging and enjoyable. Tutors can provide guidance for the step up from GCSE to A Level, as well as support for those preparing to continue their studies at university level.

Our History A Level tutors are currently taking bookings for the current academic year 2025-2026 so please get in touch if you would like to secure their services.

The Edexcel A Level History syllabus includes both thematic and period studies. Students will examine changes over time, the causes and consequences of major events, as well as use historical sources and interpretations. Topics might include (but are not limited to) the Reformation, the English Civil War, 20th century international relations, or Russian revolution, depending on which topics your school has chosen.

The A Level Edexcel History exam typically has multiple papers, including source-based questions, essay questions, and interpretations. Students are assessed on knowledge, analysis, evaluation, and historical communication. There may be coursework or a non-exam assessment depending on the most recent specification.

A tutor can help in many ways:

  • clarifying difficult topics or historiographical debates

  • helping you understand how to approach source questions and how to use evidence effectively

  • practising essay technique, time management & exam strategy

  • supplying revision resources and mock exams tailored to Edexcel

t’s ideal to begin revision well before the exams—many students begin in the year before their exams. Regular, spaced revision helps retain detailed knowledge. Source and interpretation questions often benefit from repeated practice, so early and consistent work is best.
