Tutor profile - Claire

Claire is a former primary school headteacher who uses her warm, positive manner to inspire all pupils to achieve their best.

After graduating from the University of Oxford with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, Claire gained a PGCE in Primary Education from the Institute of Education (University College London) in 2009. Since then, she has worked in two London primary schools as a class teacher, specialising in teaching Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6), with an excellent record in preparing children for their SATs in Year 6.

Before becoming a headteacher, Claire also held several positions of responsibility in school including Maths lead and deputy headteacher, as well as working with Camden Local Authority as a Year 6 moderator.

Claire achieves excellent results through a combination of having high expectations; strong subject knowledge across the primary curriculum and a supportive approach tailored to each child. She quickly identifies areas for improvement and uses a variety of strategies to ensure children make rapid progress in their learning; ensuring lessons are both engaging and productive.
