South Hampstead High School is an independent day school for girls aged 4-18 in Hampstead, North London. Students can enter the Junior School via admissions points at 4+ and 7+. At the 7+ entry point, 24 girls are accepted into the school.
It is recommended that parents book a place on an Open Day if they are considering applying to the school. Dates for Autumn open days will be released on the school’s website in early September:

These days are for adults only. Students have the opportunity to tour the school on their assessment day.
South Hampstead state that they will always consider siblings for places, but cannot guarantee admission as all places are based on assessment.
For the academic year 2024/25, the fees for studying in the Junior section of South Hampstead High School were £6,665 per term, or £19,995 per year. These fees do not include lunches.
The school does offer a variety of bursaries and scholarships, but only to those entering the senior school.

A non-refundable fee is charged for taking the entrance examination and must be sent with the application form. Applications for entry in September 2025 are open until around Friday 4th October 2024. All applicants are invited for assessment. Before the assessment, a reference will be requested from the child’s current school.
South Hampstead High School have a two-stage assessment procedure for the 7+. The first stage consists of written tests in English (creative writing and comprehension) and Maths. These tests are based on the national curriculum for year 2, although there are likely to be some higher-level questions. The first assessment is on 11th October 2024.
Girls who perform well are invited back for the second stage of the assessment procedure. They will have an interview and take part in observed small-group activities. Places are then offered on the basis of their performance.
Places will be offered in early February and parents will be given a deadline to accept. Once a place has been accepted, a non-returnable deposit of £2000 is required.
Students successfully applying at 7+ usually stay at the school for the duration of their schooling.
