School entrance experience
Matt has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:
While teaching in London, Matt has assisted and guided many boys to these top schools. The ‘Big Five’ were Westminster, Kings, Wetherby, St Paul’s (formerly Colet Court) and Sussex House. It was remarkable how the child gained a place in the school best suited to him. That is the reason for these exams and observations and interviews, after all. For the 11 years, Matt was a classroom teacher, it was a tricky time for most of the boys. It was tough for them to be so young and exposed to such a rigorous experience. His role was to get them as ready as they could be, to have them relaxed and able to show their skills and knowledge to each of the schools they applied for. With boys so young, it isn’t possible that each is mature enough at that age. When Matt became the Head of Science, he did continue to tutor boys. Some of the students he coached gained places in these schools after they left EHB and had time to click into their potential. Matt cared about the child rather than the school they were applying for. He knew that if the students understood what they did and could demonstrate their knowledge, however they were asked, they would stand out as a suitable candidate.
