Tutor profile - Sue

Sue is an experienced primary school teacher with an 'outstanding' rating. Having worked in schools since 2013, Sue is familiar with National Curriculum expectations and she has a wealth of strategies to promote accelerated progress.

Sue sets high standards for her pupils and she tailors the learning to meet pupils’ individual needs, whether it be preparing for entrance exams (7+, 9+ and 11+), SATS, or empowering pupils to develop confidence. She has successfully supported children to gain entrance into Dulwich College and other schools in the local area.

In maths, Sue uses a range of resources and strategies which enable children to develop a deep conceptual understanding of the subject. She enjoys using Singapore maths methods to support and challenge pupils, enabling them to visualise the problem and develop mastery.

Sue obtained a BA degree in English Literature and she has a particular passion for teaching reading and writing. She encourages children to be creative, take risks with their writing and develop a love of language.

Sue obtained a ‘distinction’ in her PGCE (Sheffield Hallam) and was awarded ‘outstanding’ teacher status by her training provider (LETTA). She enjoys working with students of all abilities and has experience teaching children with SEND (autism and dyslexia) and EAL. She offers in-person lessons in south east London.
