Charlotte's biography

Charlotte is a passionate and highly experienced teacher and tutor. She has worked with high profile families including children whose parents are well known actors and singers. Charlotte was nominated and was awarded 'Teacher of the Year' in 2011, 2018 and 2019 in Petersfield, Hampshire.

Charlotte has substantial experience and expertise in Early Years, KS1 and KS2. She is passionate about ensuring every child is successful and creates highly positive, fun and memorable learning experiences. Charlotte has been tutoring during her teaching career and the children she tutors thrive and make significant progress. Charlotte makes sure that she builds relationships with the class teachers of the children she works with. She spends time finding out the current topics the children are studying, their strengths and areas of concern. With this knowledge, she pre-teaches the children. This is successful in giving the children the tools they need to start each topic and confidence to do so.

Charlotte is a creative, energetic and fun teacher and she aims to create an atmosphere in the classroom/lesson where children are excited and curious about learning. Enthusiasm and enjoyment should pervade in every classroom/lesson! By creating high quality and stimulating resources she is successful in making all pupils feel valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. She believes that children need to feel safe and happy in order to learn. She establishes a clear, consistent culture of ‘Mutual Respect’ in every classroom and during every lesson she teaches.

Charlotte has worked as a SENDCo , Inclusion and Behaviour lead and is extremely competent in working with Primary children with SEND. Charlotte has worked with children from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds and has strategies to support children with EAL. She has used Shape Coding successfully to support children to help them understand the structure of a sentence.

Charlotte has a wonderful sense of humour and a sensitive, approachable and professional manner which enables her to relate positively to all children, their class teachers and their families. These families have all expressed praise and appreciation for her pastoral care, valuable support and high levels of progress that Charlotte has achieved for their children. Charlotte receives regular emails from both the parents and the class teachers thanking her for enabling the pupil/child to make so much progress. This is always delightful news for Charlotte.
She has been fortunate enough to have had a wide and varied teaching career, including spending 12 years as a Costume Designer in the Film Industry. After she departed from Costume Designing, she spent six years teaching in a Primary PRU in Islington. From July 2003 to the present day, she has been a teacher, Year Group leader, EAL leader, SENDCo, Deputy Safeguarding lead and Behaviour lead in mainstream Primary and Infant schools in London and Hampshire.
Charlotte qualified as a Drama and English teacher in 1987.
