Amy has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:

Making careful use of available past papers and creating bespoke resources for each student allows Amy to motivate students towards a successful end. Her students are supported in understanding the need to time manage as well as being given clear success criteria in order to achieve in each of the various tasks on the exam. Amy encourages exam practice under timed conditions, using this information to carefully plan personalised interventions for each area of need.

Amy's biography:

Amy currently teaches in a very successful English Department, supporting the development of staff across the school and teaching a range of abilities from Year 7 to 13. In her role as an English teacher, Amy is used to opening her classroom to colleagues and parents to showcase her successful, innovative practice. She has experience of tutoring and teaching English to those with a range of additional educational needs.

As a private tutor Amy works with students from age 6-18; her students benefit from her broad experience, high expectations and dedication to the profession. Most recently, Amy has successfully worked with students to gain places at Alleyn’s School, City of London School for Girls and Wimbledon High School. She is currently working with 6 students preparing for entrance to 11+ London Consortium schools. She makes careful use of available past papers and creates bespoke resources for each student which allows her to motivate students towards a successful end; she has a proven track record of enabling students to excel in examinations at 11+, 13+ and 16+.

As well as working in schools, Amy has experience with the leading exam boards having marked for Pearson (Edexcel), Cambridge (CIE) and AQA for English Language and English Literature for the last 6 years. Amy is a reflective tutor who uses her extensive examination experience to ensure students are fully prepared for their examinations. Her students benefit from her experience, high expectations and dedication to the profession.

Amy contributes to educational blogs and publications in her spare time. She also publishes her resources on a subscription-only website for English Language and Literature. Topics have included: 'How to shine in creative writing from KS2 to KS5'; 'The best way to memorise key quotes (Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth)' and 'Analysing unseen poetry through the ages'.

Amy qualified to teach English in 2011, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) from University of Manchester.
