Samir's biography

Samir has an Honours degree in Mathematics and Statistics from a Russel group university. He has several years classroom teaching experience and has worked in a Mathematics department rated outstanding by Ofsted. He was highly influential in supporting this department to achieve a 93% pass rate.

Samir has a genuine passion for teaching and really enjoys making young people realise their potential. He entered the teaching profession via the prestigious Teach First Leadership Development Programme. He attained his Post-graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the Institute of Education in 2012 (now University College London). At the end of his first year of teaching, he was graded outstanding.

Samir has over 10 years tutoring experience and possesses excellent subject knowledge. His tutoring style is very much student lead. He focuses on providing students with the fundamental principles of a module/topic which will allow them to excel within the subject.

Due to his experiences working with different types of students at all levels, he has developed the ability to embed and communicate mathematical concepts in a clear and concise manner. He possesses excellent interpersonal and soft skills required to nurture a child's learning. He has a patient and encouraging approach to teaching and focuses on building confidence within students, as well as improving their subject knowledge.

Samir is also a Chartered Accountant with advance level accreditation through first sitting exam passes. As Well as working as a Mathematics teacher in the UK, he has taught abroad.

Samir served as a school governor and previously worked as a professional coach to support teachers working in challenging schools.

In 2013, Samir completed voluntary work in the rural areas of South-West Uganda. He supported communities suffering from extreme poverty. Over a 3 month period he taught both students and teachers in local primary schools.

In his spare time, Samir plays a lot of sports including football, tennis and squash. He is an active member of his local community chess club and enjoys travelling.
